Brew House Master Plan

Project Description

Lab 8 Designs is preparing a master planning document for the Brew House Association. The Brew House Association is a non-profit artist organization which has been located in the former Duquesne Brewery on the South side of Pittsburgh since 1991.

The development master plan will provide the association with a guide for future build-out of the entire 100,000sf building. Utilizing the Associations greatest asset, the building to its maximum potential will allow them to become a self-sustaining entity. The building will be used to support, both financially and functionally, the overall mission of the association.

With the intention of providing a development strategy to aid in the Brew House being financially sustainable, the main design ideas in the master plan are establishing a mixed-use program for the building including artists residences, commercial space, art gallery and retail/eating facility allowing the Association to use the income from these tenants to help support their programs and activities.

The master plan is funded through a Design Fund Grant from the Community Design Center of Pittsburgh. Lab 8 is working with a partner firm from North Carolina, Clearscapes, PA.
